Angels

I am dreaming of Angels all the time, I even seen them in clouds yesterday, What's wrong with me? why cant I sleep? is this a calling to make angel jewellery? Well I did, is this what I'm suppose to do, it's very strange as when I made 3 I said I should cast them to take the hard work away than making them from scratch and a little voice said in my head, we are not all the same!!!! eh! what the hell is going on in my head? The design is the same, but each one unique. Now I'm thinking as I made one for a client it brought comfort to her and she said it reminds her of her late Mother, if she is feeling down she wears it and it makes her smile. Am I suppose to make these beautiful angels for the buyer to be drawn to one which is suppose to be for them and that person only? or am I just overworked and going crazy???

The Angel I dreamt about. A commissioned piece for one of my special clients, She said she would love an angel but struggling to find one what she liked, after that I couldn't stop dreaming about angels, I explained to her about my dream and she just said make it! now she says it reminds her of her Mother who passed away, and it's her favourite jewellery piece. I truly love this piece and I'm sure it was an angelic experience.

Sea glass, seaweed silver necklace

www.jewellerydesignbydml.co.uk
Beautifull blood red sea glass, and chunky round link sterling silver chain gives it a soft rock chick look, oxidised to give depth and for the gorgeous detail to pop. It will be for sale in my Etsy shop at the weekend.

Close up of the back, as you can see, the seaweed was fossilized in the silver, a delicate statement piece.

Large rare red Victorian sea glass surrounded by silver seaweed
My eyes sore from looking for sea glass, was going to call it a day when this beauty hit my eye, and next to it was some seaweed, so I couldn't leave it there all alone, so dried the seaweed then hand painted it about 27 times in fine silver, (I thought I'm not doing this again) letting it dry between coats, then kiln fired it, the back has left the beautiful detail of the seaweed! I found them together so they stayed together! I will take a photograph of the finished piece with its beautiful chain as I waited for the post man to knock, it's arrived so must finish it! I will be making sea glass seaweed again as this has turned out stunning. I love looking at it and touching it, some lucky girl will be wearing it.

front and back of the sea glass heart necklace

Inspiration for the blood red Vintage sea glass, is a Heart! I took the photogragh on a sunny day to capture the light shining through, when worn it is very dark red, the magic is when you hold it up to the light and your heart skips a beat just to see the beauty inside. Takes my breath away with every single piece of Seaham sea glass I find.

What is Vintage sea glass?

Seaham Sea Glass

I love Seaham beach in the North East of England, this is where the six bottle houses formed the largest glass production facility in Europe and exported across the world. Prior to the bottle works there  was a small decorative glass works in the yard of the Canterbury, our Sea glass is around 150 years old, it’s an antique & are rarer than diamonds with each sea glass being unique and one of a kind  your surely will fall in love with them just like I did. The North Sea has tumbled them smooth and given us back these astonishing gems.

The bottle works factory opened in the year of 1853 and John Candlish bought the bottle works in 1855 and closed in 1921. They produced all sorts of glass bottles, expensive poison bottles, beer bottles, and their small decorative glass works produced Victorian vases, wine glasses and decorative glass, and I have been told magnificent glass chandeliers. At the end of the each day they would take their waste out to sea and throw it overboard into the North Sea and it’s been rolling & tumbling in the sea for years and making them smooth. The sea has given us these magical one off pieces of incredible sea glass which we find daily along our beaches. Seaham sea glass is very collectible, and is known throughout the world, it’s because of the history behind these treasures that make them so collectible. The price will only increase in value. They will be heirlooms one day, to pass on to your generations.
